Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Board at Alkion, is Partner at Coloured Finches. He has over 25 years of experience in storage and handling of bulk liquids and gases. Rutger has held various management roles across the globe over the years. As former Chief Executive Officer of the Oiltanking group he was responsible for the world’s second largest independent tank storage provider. Rutger has built and managed asset-intensive infrastructure businesses that provide vital logistical services to the international oil and gas industry. Following his MBA he started his career with Dutch Vopak and gained valuable hands-on experience in various management roles over the years. Rutger is specialized in asset management and the development and operations of tank storage terminals and related infrastructure.

Kimon Palinginis

Chief Commercial Officer and Member of the Board at Alkion

Chief Commercial Officer and Member of the Board at Alkion. Kimon is a shareholder at Coloured Finches and has 20 years experience in the Energy sector. He has worked with leading International companies and National Oil Companies in oil & gas, power and renewables with particular focus on Strategy, M&A, performance improvements and transformations across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Before establishing Alkion he was a senior core member of the global Energy team at the Boston Consulting Group. Prior to that he was the Corporate Development Director at North Sea Group and was previously with Booz & Co. in London. Kimon holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Oregon (Fulbright Scholar), a M.B.A. from the College des Ingenieurs in Paris and a B.Sc. in Physics from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

John Van Loon

Assets and operations

Director Assets and Operations at Alkion Terminals. He has 35 years of experience in operating bulk liquid terminals and fuel distribution depots in Europe. John has held various hands-on management roles in logistics management of terminals, depots, barges, road transportation and retail stations over the years. At Van der Sluijs, North Sea Group and Argos he has been responsible for the transition and integration of acquired terminals as well as newly build facilities in Northwestern Europe. John is specialised in operations, maintenance, EPC projects and HSSE.

Mats Hagstrom

CFO

Chief Financial Officer at Alkion. He has 10 years of experience in storage and handling of bulk liquids across Europe.

Prior to joining Alkion in 2018, Mats was core member of the asset management team at Mercuria Energy Group and most recently he was Finance Director at Vesta Terminals.

He has also experience from various senior finance management roles across Europe at General Electric and Ernst & Young. Mats holds a MSc in Business and Economics from Uppsala University.
